Darth Marty Media was commissioned by Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority to photograph the work being done at Traeth Mawr, Newport, where improving access to one of Pembrokeshire's most beautiful beaches has been a major part of the site's development.

And while Traeth Mawr is undoubtedly a stunning place to photograph, this commission was really about people. In particular, it was about showing that enjoying Pembrokeshire's coast shouldn't be determined by someone's mobility, and capturing the facilities and support that are helping more people experience the beach and landscape for themselves.

Working predominantly in my usual candid style, I photographed people actually using and enjoying the improved access rather than simply documenting the facilities themselves – because ultimately that's what all of this work is for.

The resulting collection celebrates both a beautiful part of Pembrokeshire and the work being done by the National Park Authority to make it more accessible.

Extraordinary places are at their best when as many people as possible have the opportunity to experience them.
