Kristian Grue | IRONMAN Wales 2026

Kristian Grue is one of those people who reminds me exactly why I love photographing people. An extraordinary endurance athlete, 2 x Norseman winner and someone who has competed at the very highest level of the sport, but also a genuinely warm, thoughtful and thoroughly decent bloke.

Having seen and liked my work, Kristian got in touch and asked me to document his IRONMAN Wales journey, which was both a huge compliment and an opportunity I was never going to turn down. I spent time with him in Tenby before the race, capturing some of the quieter moments and portraits away from competition, before following his progress through race day itself.

The result is a collection that isn't simply about an elite athlete competing at an extraordinary level. It's about the person behind the performance, the preparation, the pressure and what it takes to do something most of us can barely comprehend. 📸
